Fun on Lake Leelanau

Fishing with Daddy.
Pete took some vacation time at the beginning of August, so we went on a crazy adventure to a bunch of different places/events. We started out visit out in Lake Leelanau/Traverse City. The first day Nancy, Kelly and I headed to the street sales in TC, while Don and Pete stayed home with the boys (Kelly and I brought the babies along). The boys worked on cleaning up the boat that Papa gave to us, and the girls did some bargain shopping. When we got back, we spent some time down at the lake. Charlie had a blast swimming in the water and riding in the boat. Seda was content, as usual, fishing with Dad, spending some time with Gramps, and watching her brother splash around. It was so fun to see Charlie loving the water, and it was a great little start to our vacation!

DG Traverse City Week

Waiting patiently for Smores!
Charlie, Seda and I joined Mary, Matt and Gwen up at the cottage for a week last month. Dan and Pete were there for the weekend, then they headed back home to work. Mary, the kids and I were alone until Tuesday afternoon, then two of our girlfriends and their kiddos joined us. It was so nice to have a week of cousin time for Charlie, and then the addition of the other kiddos was a bonus! We spent most of our time on the lake: swimming, fishing, boating, etc. One day it was rainy so we took the kiddos out to lunch and to the Lego museum exhibit. It was great to catch up with my friends and get to spend more than the usual 2 hours I get with them at a birthday party here and there. The kids all had so much fun, so hopefully we can do it again!

Camping

My bathing beauties taking a nap at the beach.
We went camping for the first time this summer... and... we took our 3-month-old along! :) I was pretty nervous about going, and I told Pete that there were three conditions that would send Seda and I packing... quickly: super hot weather, rain, or having it be super buggy. We totally lucked out and had the perfect weather with no bugs! Seda was so easy, and Charlie had a blast! I can definitely see it being harder when Seda is mobile, so we need to do it as much as we can now!! We had a yummy cookout dinner of Friday night, and then sat around the campfire with the other two families the first night. We were are pretty tired from a busy week, so it was an early night. Saturday morning we got up, made breakfast, let the kiddos play football, and then headed to the beach after lunch. We had another yummy dinner Saturday night, followed by some more time around the campfire. Sunday morning we made breakfast and then cleaned up camp and headed home. It was a great weekend, and I can't wait until we get to go again!
